5 Things You May Not Know About Internet Streaming

  1. Cloud Computing (iStock)According to the Pew Research Center, home broadband adoption sits at 63% among American adults, as of June 2009.  This is a 8% increase from May 2008.
  2. A basic broadband connection is perfectly adequate for streaming decent quality video.
  3. Many older computers can handle the download and display of a standard definition video stream.  Many can even handle a high definition video stream.
  4. The remote storage in online backup services like Dropbox can be accessed by certain smartphones like the iPhone.
  5. Many smartphones like the iPhone have the processing and bandwidth capability to stream audio and video files from remote storage over the cellular connection.

What does this all mean?

The wide availability of fast Internet connections allow users to consume their content virtually anywhere and at anytime.  The aim of this blog is to help tech-savvy individuals make the most of their Internet connection, protect their valuable data, and break out of the traditional model of being dependent cable and satellite providers to deliver content.
